I am part of a lovely women's photography community (professionals & hobbyists) and this morning we are kicking of a monthly project called "Letters to our Daughters". Each month we will dedicate a blog post to our daughters and link each others' posts (otherwise known as a blog circle). I'm so grateful to have been included and look forward to sharing them with you, my peers, and my girls. {january 2013}
My sweet girls.
::sigh:: I want to start by reading you a poem.
In your light, I learn how to love In your beauty, how to make poems
You dance inside my chest Where no one sees you
But sometimes I do And that sight becomes this art.
--Rumi
I've never been exceptional with words. I often always hesitate writing to you because I'm sure I will fail to articulate myself accurately. This poem does a great job though.
As is says, you radiate light. Both of you do, and it's even more powerful when you are together. You have very large and unique personalities in those little pint-sized bodies. Your wholeness as sisters however, is the most beautiful & poetic thing I've witnessed.
You snatch toys, you scream, you pull hair. It's the dance and I cant help but giggle. Then you laugh, you clap, hug, kiss...teach. My heart swells. How did I get this lucky?
At times, it's just a simple glance to make sure your sister is nearby and at others, it's a large protective roar when you sense your sister needs you. It's always beautiful. No amount of pictures (or words) will ever describe what is in my heart and how I see you. But it is your presence and your love that motivates & inspires me to keep trying.
I love you. Happy January my sweet, sweet loves.
